Apple iPhone 7 to ditch the 3.5mm audio jack?

Get ready for some angry Apple users! The style over substance debate could be about to kick up a gear, with the smartphone giants reportedly set to drop the longstanding 3.5mm audio jack from the rumoured iPhone 7.

According to sources, Apple is planning on cutting the industry standard headphone connection in a bid to shave a single, precious millimeter from the handset’s form. This would probably mean, you can only use Apple headphones or Beats by Dre headphones (due to their partnership).

As a result, those snapping up the upcoming iPhone 7 will need to invest in a new, Lightning port-friendly pair of headphones, use a pair of wireless, Bluetooth cans or buy the overpriced adaptor that will inevitably accompany the release. You will obviously be given standard headphones to use, but they may not be the best quality. If you’re got a brilliant, expensive pair of cabled headphones, tough, it’s not going to work without an adaptor!
